THORNVILLE - Sheridan controlled its destiny for a share of the Muskingum Valley League title entering Thursday's game with rival New Lexington.

The offense did its part, totaling 12 hits, as the Generals clinched a share of the crown with a 13-3 five-inning mercy of the visiting Panthers.

Sheridan will face Tri-Valley on Wednesday to try to win an outright title, depending on Tri-Valley's result against John Glenn. That game was suspended on Thursday.

The Generals (19-4, 13-2) fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first before taking the lead for good with four in the home half.

After the Panthers pulled within 4-3 in the third, Sheridan plated seven in the fourth and two in the fifth with Brady Turnes' walk-off RBI single ending the mercy.

Winning pitcher Logan Farmer scattered eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk in a complete game, while Chance King had three singles and three RBIs, Dakota Sode two singles and two RBIs, Nate Johnson two singles and a RBI and Ethan Malone a double and two RBIs to highlight the offense.

Nathan Metzger and Seth Burgess each had two singles and a RBI, while Blake Elliott took the loss, giving up seven runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 3 1/3 innings, for the Panthers (6-9 MVL).
