Tri-Valley  10,  Sheridan  6

THORNVILLE - Tri-Valley used some early offense and held on late to top host Sheridan 10-6 on Wednesday, as the teams shared the Muskingum Valley League baseball title.

Both teams finished 13-3 in the league.

The Scotties (14-8) got off to a fast start, as RBI singles from Brennon Mitchell and Kaden Lawler made it 2-0 in the first inning.

Skye Bryan hit a sac fly to bring home another run in the second, and Bryan added a RBI single and Ty Smith hit a run-scoring groundout in the fourth to build a 5-0 advantage.

Tri-Valley led 9-1 at one point and was up 10-2 going to the bottom of the seventh before the Generals used four hits, a walk and a hit batter to make it 10-6. However, after a pitching change, Nate Johnson took off from first with the bases loaded and was thrown out trying to get back. A line shot to shortstop led to a groundout to end the game.

Chase Kendrick made it stand, allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 6 1/3 innings.

Lawler, Kendrick and Drew Richert each had three hits and Smith and Justin Fernburg each doubled and singled for the winners.

Drew Campbell gave up seven runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and no walks in five innings and Reece Trowbridge had a double and two singles to pace the Sheridan offense.
